Remote no longer sees files with period in file names-VLCv2

Postby StevenX » February 22nd, 2012, 10:43 pm

Just upgraded to VLC v2.0 and noticed that there's a bit of a quirk or bug with either VLC Remote or VLC itself in v2.

The issue is that the app now doesn't list any files in the File Browser view which have periods in the file name (possibly not limited to periods - may occur with other characters, but I've not tested this - periods are just common in file names it seems, hence why I noticed). As soon as you rename the file to remove the period in the file name, it becomes visible to VLC Remote.

Can you help out? Is there a way around this? A great deal of my files which I like to play in VLC have periods in the filename. I'd imagine it's a bug or change in VLC v2.0 - any way around this at all?..

i'm having the same issue here. vlc remote can't see ANY of my video files with a period or underscore in the filename. some files with dashes in their name are also invisible, while others show up fine.
i'm running windows 7, VLC 2.0 and a this would be an example filename: "Dexter.S06E07.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION.mkv"

See below. I have similar filenames and am running Windows 7 with VLC 2.0.

I'd already reinstalled because the Setup Helper left me with a Command Line window which would open with VLC every time it started which I couldn't figure out how to get rid of.

I'm using the Android version of the app, if that makes a difference? Looks like you tested with your iOS version there?

Sorry - should have mentioned that first time round! Hope you can get it fixed, so I can stop having to rename all my files!
