VLC Streamer Helper Crashes when adding movies. This is what it says:
VLC Streamer was unable to start its Http server.
The most likely problem is that you have chosen a port which is already in use.
You can change the port in the settings.
How can I change the port in the settings?
Thanks
I am having this same error. The previous VLC Streamer Helper Configuration worked fine. I used it for roughly 2 months without issue. 3 days ago I updated to the new streamer helper, and ran into this problem. The first time I load the program, everything looks great. When I drag a .wmv into the movie box, it shows it on the right side and says processing... then the entire program almost instantly crashes. When I reload the program, I get the error stating:
VLC Streamer was unable to start its Http server.

You can change the port in the settings.Any ideas?
*EDIT: I just noticed that every time it crashes it doesn't kill the process for the streamer helper. I found 4 of them just sitting in my processes running. However, it doesn't stop the port error from appearing, even after killing all the processes. If I change the port to a new one, my ipad is able to see my computer. If I close the program properly, it does not give me that error on the next run (as opposed to the program crashing). Again: Every time I received the error I did check to see if any other processes with that name were running and it is the ONLY item running with VLC in the name.
*EDIT 2: Only certain files are crashing it, and not just types or sizes. I tried 10 different WMVs, of varying sizes- 8 crashed the program, 2 completed. Of the two that completed, one was the largest wmv of the lot.
*EDIT 3: The files that are crashing the program are still converting. After the program crashed and windows forced it to close, I checked the working folder and found a subfolder named after the video file. The folder continues to increase in size, and a vlc.exe process is showing my task manager. If I go to the "_Temp" folder during this time and attempt to delete the temporary file it created, I am unable to do so as vlc is busy using it. If I let it finish, the vlc.exe process will close on its own. I am them capable of watching the file on my iPad with no problems the next time I open the streamer helper (which will, of course, give me a port error because its previous run crashed. I change the port and am then able to view the file on my iPad)
