VLc Streamer helper doesnt start on mac

I just downloaded the newest version. I copied it to the Applications folders and overwrote the old version. It wont start now. I have it in system preferences, but when i click on it it just sits. No error code or anything.

I am on 10.6.8 with all updates. I reverted back to the 2.35a version, and its running fine.

I'm having the same issue on my mac. The program no longer works. Anyone have a link to the stable 2.35 version so I can get it up and running again? Thanks.

yup - stupid bug on my part. I reduced the tabs to two. If you last had the app open in the third tab, then it is trying to open that and crashing.

workaround until I get the new version uploaded

Open ~/Library/Preferences

delete the
com.HobbyistSoftware.VLCStreamer.plist

file

relaunch and all should work.

alternatively, you can type this command into the terminal

rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.HobbyistSoftware.VLCStreamer.plist

NB: What this is doing is deleting the VLC Streamer preferences. You'll have a default install after this. Thats probably fine for most people, but if you are using a password custom directory, etc then you"ll need to re-enter it.

great investigating.

i just switched to the second tab, then i installed the new update. came up with no problems.

i like this new layout, makes sense to have only 2 tabs (one to drag movies into and the other for everything else).

update - this is finally sorted.

the 2.41 version of the helper should now work. Let me know if it doesn't.

i'm very sorry to say but 2.41 version is not working. i've made the updates on my iMac for VLC streamer and on my iPad as well but it seems to me that i will stay for long without my favourite piece of software. By any chance, can you post the last stable version for VLC streamer? I'm quite annoyed because couple of months back was not a single movie that VLC Streamer could not handle, including large mkv files. By the way i'm running an iMac bought in 2011 mac os 10.6.8.

what exactly do you mean by 'not working' now?

On my iPad I get the message : VLC could not process your movie and on the same time on the iMac I get the message VLC quit unexpectedly! Please let me know what I have to do because I really loved this piece of software! Thank you!
