Wont stay enabled

Postby Techman » May 20th, 2011, 10:11 pm

Im trying to use off remote on 4 machines. 2 are Server 2008, 1 is a server 2003 and the other is a Windows 7 machine.
1. The Off Helper client on the machines wont stay enabled. If i restart or wake any on the the machines it will not reconnect due to not being enabled anymore. Seems that just scanning the network sometime from my ipad the client app just unticks itself from being enabled.
2. On the servers I get errors saying that "Off Helper couldn't save its settings ............"

Any help would be appreciated.

we don't formally support the server versions, so no promises on this.

however the settings thing sounds like the smoking gun. Off needs to save its settings. There is presumably a permissions issue here. I can't remember off hand where the settings save, but presumably one of the application data folders.

tip from our windows dev - some firewall/security apps block settings from being saved.

try disabling them completely to test. Let me know if that doesn't help. We have an update coming up which may change the way this works.

I think the issue in the past was that some firewall/security apps were effectively sandboxing the helper.
