Windows Service Start Failure

Postby Mr Beardo » October 30th, 2011, 1:30 am

Hi,
I have two computers using this program, one on XP Home, and one on Windows 7 Home 64bit

My first main problem is the Windows 7,
I get the message titles "Windows Service Start Failure"
The message reads "Cannot Start service from the command line or a debugger. A Windows Service must first be installed (using installutil.exe) and then started with the ServerExplorer, Windows Services Administrative tool, or the NET START command"

I may be missing something here, as I have already installed this, but I would like to know how to do this with the tools mentioned!

My second problem is connecting with either PC my iphone 4, it keeps trying to connect, (using a password), despite my efforts at filtering the program and it's service processes on Microsoft Security Essentials, which is what I use as the firewall.

I am also using watchover, with the same problem, and I have also tried changing the ports and checking the router, but to no avail!

Please help!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

something very odd going on there - I haven't heard this before.

I'd suggest

1) uninstall the off helper
2) make sure windows is fully updated
3) try downloading and re-installing again

let me know if that doesn't help and we can dig more into why you're getting this error.

one other wild guess. Make sure you're not running some kind of sandboxing security app.

I'm wondering if your security app is stopping the service from being installed properly - and this triggers the message...
